A 51-year-old woman has been charged after allegedly throwing acid on a man in Wellington overnight.
A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to an address on Sim St in Johnsonville shortly after 11pm.
“The victim received acid burns to an arm and clothing, and was treated by an ambulance crew at the scene,” the police spokesperson said.
The alleged offender left the address before emergency services arrived, but officers found the person at a Kipling St address shortly before 2am.
She was taken into custody without incident.
“A 51-year-old Johnsonville woman has been charged with throwing acid with intent to injure and is expected to appear in the Wellington District Court today.”
Inquiries were ongoing.
