A dramatic video has showed a white SUV attempting to block a stolen vehicle outside a shop on Auckland’s North Shore moments after three offenders carried out a brazen aggravated burglary on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said three people were reported entering a pawnbroker on Mokoia Rd in the suburb of Birkenhead at around 1.35pm on Wednesday, smashing display cabinets and stealing several items.

Footage provided to 1News captures the moment the SUV tried to block the getaway vehicle as it left the scene.

The stolen vehicle can be seen reversing away from the scene and driving past the SUV, sustaining a large dent on its passenger side during the confrontation.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Renfree said the getaway vehicle was confirmed as stolen.

“This group has then driven to Zion Rd, Birkenhead where they abandoned that car and left in a second stolen car.”

The second vehicle was then found abandoned in Potter Ave, Northcote.

Renfree said police believed the suspects fled the location in a third vehicle.

“We are continuing to make enquiries in order to locate those responsible and hold them to account.”

Police appealed for anyone who was in the area who may have seen the people involved or the vehicles to get in touch with them.

“Police would also like to hear from anyone who may have relevant dashcam or CCTV footage from Mokoia Rd, Zion Rd, Birkenhead Ave, Pupuke Rd, Releigh Rd or Potter Ave, including anyone who filmed the initial aggravated burglary in Birkenhead.”

Anyone with relevant information should contact 105.
