An internet outage is impacting parts of Auckland today.
According to the Chorus outages map, customers have reported being impacted in Māngere, Onehunga and Te Papapa.
The map showed multiple suburbs affected where the status remained “under action” at 2pm.
Chorus told 1News the outage was a result of “cut cables”, however police said they were not yet aware of any reports relating to the incident.
“The team has found that the Chorus cables supplying broadband service to the Onehunga and Māngere Bridge areas have been damaged due to public vandalism,” a Chorus spokesperson told 1News in a statement.
“Around 3000 fibre customers have been impacted and there’s been minor impact on our copper services with around 9 connections cut,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said Chorus sincerely apologised to the affected customers for the inconvenience caused by the outage.
“The situation has been escalated since Monday morning and all services are estimated to be back up and running by Wednesday.
“We have our team working around the clock 24/7 to resolve this.”
An advisory on the Chorus website advised customers to “check back for a later update”.
