It’s one of the biggest shows on TV in both the UK and New Zealand, with a fearsome Chaser hunting down contestants as they seek to win the big money. But which of them has the best winning record?
Thanks to researchers in Britain, this question can now be answered. And the outcome may be surprising – depending on how you calculate who wins.
There are six Chasers currently on the show – made by ITV and broadcasting on TVNZ1 daily – and each have their own Chaser name which will be familiar to regular viewers.
Mark Labbett is The Beast, Shaun Wallace the Dark Destroyer, Anne Hegerty The Governess, Paul Sinha The Sinnerman, Jenny Ryan The Vixen and newbie Darragh Ennis the Menace.
The established Chasers have each made well over 400 appearances on the programme, which has been running since 2009, while Darragh is approaching the 100 mark.
So there was plenty of data for British betting company Betway to work with when they crunched the numbers.
They looked at accuracy, win rates, highest target caught and highest financial success.

Paul, The Sinnerman, leads in the financial success stakes with an average win total of £14,651 and a win rate of 78% across 436 appearances.
But based on win rate alone, it’s the women who take it out – both Anne, The Governess, and Jenny, The Vixen, have win rates of 79%.
That may be bad news for competitors on an upcoming special run of The Chase NZ with The Governess expected to feature on the show.
Mark, The Beast, has a slightly lower win rate of 76% over 475 episodes – however, at 20 he holds the highest average target to beat, and in the final chase has the highest accuracy, with 83% of questions answered correctly.
In the novice category, Darragh, The Menace, already has a 78% win rate across his 81 appearances.
Shaun, the Dark Destroyer, tails slightly behind the other Chasers, giving some hope to the contestants who come up against him.
The Chase is on TVNZ1 and TVNZ+ daily at 5pm.
