Several small earthquakes have rattled the Tokomaru Bay region of Gisborne this afternoon.
According to Geonet, at least five earthquakes registering more than a magnitude of 2 have occurred within 5km of the small beachside community since 2.40pm on Saturday.
Depths of the tremors ranged from 14-19km.
The largest was a magnitude 3.9 which struck at 4.15pm and was described by Geonet as “moderate”.
