Police have arrested one person after officers swarmed Auckland’s Lynn Mall last night.
About 5pm, officers responded to reports of a robbery at a Batkin Rd address in the suburb of New Windsor.
“A person reported being robbed by two men and threatened with a firearm,” police said.
“The alleged offenders fled in the victim’s vehicle, which was tracked by the police Eagle helicopter to the Lynn Mall on Great North Rd.”
A police spokesperson confirmed officers temporarily restricted access to the mall as a precaution while officers carried out a search.
“Two occupants of the car entered the mall on foot, prompting police to temporarily restrict access as a precaution. After an extensive search, police took one suspect into custody and a firearm was also recovered,” they said.
“Inquiries are ongoing to locate the second suspect.”
Police thanked the public for their cooperation during the incident.
