Police are searching for a red Toyota Hilux after a road worker was threatened with a firearm on SH1.
The incident — on November 10 near Ātiamuri — included a firearm being presented during a confrontation with the road worker before the driver left the scene, police said.
The vehicle was believed to be a double cab Toyota Hilux with a red cab and a black deck on the sides and rear. Police said was signwritten with the letters “RTKFTP”.
Detective Constable Scott McLeod said: “There were no shots fired or any injuries — however the worker was understandably shaken by the incident.
“Enquiries into the full circumstances of what occurred are ongoing and we are appealing for any information, including anyone who witnessed the incident.”
Police were seeking dashcam footage from the area at the time. Information could be passed by calling 105, citing the reference number 241110/1812.
