An investigation has been launched into the “unexplained” death of a person inside a vehicle on fire in Hastings last night.
Police were called to the scene of a car fire at a home on Irongate Rd West around 8.20pm yesterday, Detective Inspector Martin James said.
A scene examination was carried out at the property where the car was found.
Work is underway to formally identify the person and inform their next of kin, James said.
“Police are also working to establish the circumstances of the person’s death, which at this stage is being treated as unexplained.”
Police are carrying out a scene examination at a home on Sunderland Dr in Flaxmere as part of their inquiries, he said.
Residents on Irongate Rd West and Sunderland Dr can expect to see a continued police presence in the coming days.
