One person has died and another was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition following a two-vehicle crash in Westland last night.
In a statement, police said the crash happened on State Highway 6, halfway between Ruatapu and Ross at around 8.35pm on Saturday.
“Sadly, the driver of one of the cars died at the scene,” a police spokesperson said.
The injured driver of the other vehicle was airlifted to hospital.
The Serious Crash Unit carried out a scene examination and police said inquiries into what caused the crash were ongoing.
