State Highway 29 in Lower Kaimai has reopened after a three-vehicle crash this morning left one person with critical injuries.

The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) said the crash occurred between McLaren Falls Rd and Poripori Rd around 10.30am.

Police said the crash involved a car, a ute, and a small truck.

One person was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.

Two others in the vehicle were taken to hospital by ambulance with moderate injuries.

The sole occupants of two other vehicles involved in the incident were uninjured.

The road was closed this morning but has since reopened.

Police thanked motorists for their patience.

SH12 in Northland reopens

In Northland, SH12 was blocked at Taheke but has since reopened.

The road was forced to close after a truck rolled shortly after 11am, police said.

No one was injured in the incident.
