One person has died after a crash on State Highway 5 near Tīrau.
Police said the crash, involving three-vehicles, was reported at 3.35pm.
Three other people were seriously injured.
“State Highway 5 remains closed while the serious crash unit conduct a scene examination.”
Police said SH5 Tapapa is closed between Webster and Whites roads.
Motorists have been advised to avoid the area and expect lengthy detours.
St John Ambulance said it sent three ambulances, two helicopters, and one rapid response unit to the scene.
