A man has been taken to hospital with critical injuries from an incident in Auckland’s Pakuranga Heights this afternoon.

Hato Hone St John was alerted earlier this afternoon and sent one ambulance and two rapid response vehicles to the scene at 3.43pm.

“One patient in a critical condition has been transported to Middlemore Hospital by ambulance.

“Please refer to police New Zealand for further information,” a spokesperson said.

Police said officers were called to a residential address on Jade Ave, Pakuranga Heights shortly before 4pm.

“Officers are making inquiries after a man presented outside a residential address in Pakuranga Heights with injuries this afternoon,” a spokesperson said.

The man has since been taken to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition, police said.

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of what has occurred.”

Earlier homicide inquiry in Pakuranga Heights

On August 19, a homicide investigation was launched after 59-year-old Tuipulotu Vi was fatally shot in his vehicle on Marvon Downs Ave in Pakuranga Heights around 6.45am.

Detective Inspector Shaun Vickers previously said investigators were looking at whether the homicide might be linked to another incident of a house being shot at in Beach Haven on July 23.

At the time, police said several bullet casings were located outside an address on Rambler Crescent and “thankfully, no one was hurt”.

A homicide investigation was also launched last night following a shooting in Auckland’s Grey Lynn that killed one person and injured three others.

In an update today, Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin said the investigation was progressing and police were “building a picture of what led to the violent events”.
