A homicide investigation has been launched after the death of a man in Auckland’s Mount Wellington this afternoon.
Emergency services were first called to reports of a person being stabbed in Tomuri Pl, near Sylvia Park at 1.31pm today.
Acting field crime manager detective inspector Simon Harrison said police were notified an altercation had taken place at the property, during which a man received “critical injuries”.
Despite “best efforts” from emergency services, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Harrison said two people had been arrested.
“We know this may have been a shock to the community, but we would like to reassure people that this appears to be an isolated incident.”
An increased police presence will remain in the area and cordons will be in place while the scene examination continues, a police spokesperson confirmed.
“At this stage, police are not in a position to release details of the deceased,” they added.
Police said it will issue further updates “proactively”.
