Craggy Range Restaurant has been named Supreme winner and Best Restaurant at the 2024 Hospitality New Zealand Business Awards this evening.

Craggy Range Restaurant – located at Craggy Range Vineyard in Hawke’s Bay – claimed the honours at a black tie dinner in Christchurch

The Havelock North venue was the location for former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s wedding to Clark Gayford earlier this year.

The Richmond Club in Christchurch – established in 1888 – took home the coveted People’s Choice Award for the second year running.

Heritage buildings were a firm favourite among the judges, with Market St in Napier winning Best Bar, and Thistle Inn in Wellington taking home Best Local.

The Best Cafe Award went to Majestic at Mayfair in Christchurch thanks to its impressive menu showcasing local produce and their luxurious Belgian hot chocolates.

The Best Accommodation Provider, meanwhile, went to LyLo in Auckland. The City of Sails is also home to The Hotel Britomart, which was named Best Hotel, and The Tahi Bar + Kitchen, which was named Best Entertainment Venue.

The Best Destination Venue went to Wharekauhau Country Estate in Wairarapa thanks to its breathtaking view of the Remutaka Mountain Range and the clifftops of Palliser Bay.

The Sustainability Champion Award went to Hotel Give | The Kind Foundation in Christchurch due to its range of programmes and services for those in need.

Hospitality NZ chief executive Steve Armitage said the awards come amid a challenging time for the industry.

“We are clearly operating in an incredibly challenging environment at the moment, so it’s been fantastic to have the industry come together to cheer on one another,” he said.

“The calibre of hospitality and accommodation businesses in New Zealand is absolutely worth celebrating, and while we can’t acknowledge everyone, it is always great to give some well-deserved recognition to those performing at the top of their game.”

Tasmanian Hospitality Association chief executive Steve Old, on behalf of the panel of judges, said it “was no mean feat for the judging panel to select the best of the finalists”.

“The quality of establishments across New Zealand is impressive and I want to thank all those who entered for taking the time to put their names forward – the future of hospitality is in good hands.”

The awards show, now in its 26th year, was held over two nights at the Te Pae Convention Centre.
