Police in Hawke’s Bay are treating the discovery of a body in a burnt out car as suspicious.
They have narrowed their inquiries to a specific location and period of Tuesday afternoon.
The car fire at a property on Irongate Road West was reported on Tuesday evening, and police said yesterday that they were carrying out a scene examination at a home on Sunderland Dr in Flaxmere as part of their inquiries.
Detective Inspector Martin James said today a post mortem was carried out this morning.
Police were aware of “commentary” around the death and were urging anyone with information to come forward.
“We would especially like to hear from anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage on Irongate Road West and Sunderland Drive, between 4.30pm and 8.30pm on Tuesday, March 26.”
