Five people have been transported to hospital after a single-vehicle crash overnight in Bucklands Beach, Auckland.

Police said they responded to an incident where a car collided with a parked vehicle on Macleans Road at 1.15am.

“Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing,” a spokesperson said.

St John said it responded to the crash with five ambulances, two rapid response vehicles and one operations manager.

Five patients were treated and taken to Middlemore Hospital, four in a serious condition and one in a moderate condition, said a spokesperson.

Fire and Emergency NZ said it responded with two fire trucks.

“One person was trapped in the vehicle and had to be released using rescue tools,” a spokesperson said.
