The alleged driver of the car in a fatal collision between a car and a four-seater bike in Martinborough has died, bringing police inquiries into the crash to an end.

UK resident Alison Korny was killed and three others on the bike suffered serious injuries in the crash on February 13.

Korny’s LinkedIn profile listed her as working for the Royal Bank of Scotland as an operations support financial analyst.

She had previously worked for the National Bank of New Zealand between 1995 and 2002 in both the Wellington and Canterbury regions.

Police said no one would be charged in the incident as the driver had died. Their death was unrelated to the crash, a police spokesperson said.

“The families of those involved in the crash have been notified.”

Police said the crash occurred on Puruatanga Rd, between Regent St and Todds Rd, at around 10.45am. (Source: 1News)

The crash occurred in an area with a 100km/h open road speed limit on a popular route for cycling between vineyards.

Nearby vineyard staff members helped with the emergency response. One staffmember told 1News at the time the road was a safety concern, given how many cyclists used it — and what happened had been “inevitable”.
