Australian rock royalty Cold Chisel will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in New Zealand as they return to our shores for Greenstone Entertainment’s Summer Concert Tour.

Joining them is fellow Australian rock band Icehouse, American band Everclear, and New Zealand singer-songwriter Bic Runga (Ngāti Kahungunu, Rongomaiwahine).

The 2025 Summer Concert Tour, which is celebrating its 15-year anniversary, will kick off in Queenstown on January 18, followed by shows in Taupō on January 25, and Whitianga on January 26.

Greenstone Entertainment said its Summer Concert Tour has seen audiences of around 450,000 people since its inception.

Chief executive Amanda Calvert said in a statement: “The Summer Concert Tour has cemented itself as an annual pilgrimage where friends get together and enjoy some of the best music of our lifetime”.

“We are so looking forward to the 2025 Summer Concert Tour and delivering our best concert series yet.”

Cold Chisel frontman Jimmy Barnes said he did not think he would live to see the band celebrate its 50th anniversary.

“The big Five-0 is a landmark moment. There have been plenty of times where I never thought I’d live to see this day so I’m going to make the most of it,” Barnes said.

“I can’t wait to celebrate with my mates and with all the fans who have been such a big part of our story. We’re gonna smash it.”

The singer underwent emergency open heart surgery December last year.

Runga, who in 2016 was inducted into the New Zealand Music hall of fame, said she “can’t wait to perform alongside an iconic line up of artists that I’ve admired for so long, at some epic summer locations right here in Aotearoa”.

Greenstone Concert Club members’ pre-sale tickets go on sale from Thursday, June 27 at 10am. General public tickets go on sale on Monday, July 1 at 12pm.
