The Chase’s Paul Sinha says his Parkinson’s diagnosis has been a “tough” one to come to terms with, speaking during a comedy set about where he sees his future.

Speaking from the stage at Ealing Comedy Festival, the quiz master known as The Sinnerman opened up about his Parkinson’s disease, describing it as a “tough diagnosis” to come to terms with.

“I’m well aware that in 15 to 20 years time, I might be completely immobile and totally expressionless,” he said, the Daily Express reports.

True to form, however, he turned the dark moment around with his trademark humour.

“But hey – I’m still Australia’s number one break dancer. Sometimes these things are sent to try us.”

Sinha first suspected he might have the degenerative disease during a taxi ride through the streets of Wellington in May 2019.

“In a taxi on the way from Wellington Airport to my hotel, I googled ‘Parkinson’s’ plus ‘frozen shoulder’ and just got the shock of my life,” he said.

“This mass of medical literature saying, ‘This is what you’ve got’”.

Parkinson’s disease is a neurological disorder which could cause mild symptoms initially, such as tremors and balance difficulties.

Sinha is one of six Chasers currently on the show hosted by Bradley Walsh. The others are Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, Shaun ‘the Dark Destroyer’ Wallace, Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan and newbie Darragh ‘the Menace’ Ennis.

The programme has been running since 2009.

New Zealand is set to become the 22nd country with its own Chase format when Paul Henry hosts a series of shows – the broadcast date is yet to be announced.

The Chase UK is on TVNZ1 and TVNZ+ every day at 5pm.
