Sections of a major Auckland motorway reopened this afternoon following two separate incidents earlier today.

A person died just before 12pm following a “fatal incident”, prompting the closure of State Highway 16 citybound to the Port.

Earlier, another section of the northwestern motorway closed after a truck crash.

The crash occurred at around 8.40am when the truck hit the barrier in the westbound lanes of State Highway 16 before the Brigham Creek Road roundabout near Whenuapai.

The driver was critically hurt.

Both parts of the motorway are now open.
