A person has died after their car was crushed in a high-speed crash in an East Auckland industrial area overnight.
Emergency services rushed to the scene in East Tāmaki at about 10.40pm, after reports that a vehicle had “rolled” on Springs Rd, between Kerwyn Ave and Smales Rd.
“One person, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene,” police said.
Two other cars could be seen damaged at the scene last night, one with its windshield smashed and bonnet torn upwards.
The main vehicle involved in the crash could be seen heavily mangled and damaged, while surrounded by fire and ambulance crews.
“The cause of the crash is under investigation,” police said.
“Police will be ensuring support to the victim’s family.”
