Parents will now have easier access to what their children are learning at school with the Government’s launch of a new online resource aimed to support learning at home.
Launching today, the Ministry of Education’s new Parent Portal website will offer year-by-year summaries of what students will be taught in English and maths under the refreshed curriculum, alongside activities, videos, and resources for learning at home.
More subjects would be added as the curriculum rollout continued.
Education Minister Erica Stanford said the tool was about putting parents back at the centre of their child’s learning journey.
“This is about giving parents clarity, confidence, and practical tools to support their child’s learning,” she said.
“Until now, parents haven’t always had consistent access to this information — this new tool will change that.”
The portal includes tips for parent-teacher interviews; guides to structured literacy approaches such as phonics and decodable books; and information on what to expect when a child starts school, including the 20- and 40-week phonics checks.
Online maths practice tools were expected to be added soon.
Stanford said it was the first time parents would have access to “such a comprehensive and practical resource”.
“It’s not just about information — it’s about helping your child succeed. Whether a child needs support to catch up or is ready to be extended, parents will now have the tools to help.”
