A search is underway for a person who went missing while snorkelling in Kaikōura today.
Police said they were alerted just before 5pm after a person on a snorkelling trip failed to return.
Coastguard Kaikōura launched a search just after 5.20pm.
Volunteers and a helicopter are currently carrying out a search on the northern side of the peninsula near Ingles Bay.
