Police are investigating after a woman was shot in the leg in a hunting accident in Northland last night.
A group were possum hunting on a property near Donnellys Crossing when the incident occurred around 9.30pm, police said.
“A female victim suffered a gunshot injury to the leg and was initially in a serious condition.
“Police are speaking with parties involved and our enquiries are continuing into what occurred last night.”
St John said the patient was taken to Northland Base Hospital in a serious condition.
Northland Rescue Helicopter has been contacted for comment by 1News.
