A woman has been charged with murder after a man was killed in an alleged hit-and-run in Auckland’s Pukekohe last month.

Teri Rhind, 37, was left critically injured after being struck by a vehicle on Wellington St in the early hours of October 18.

On October 21, Rhind died of his injuries while in hospital, prompting a homicide investigation by police.

During its investigation, dubbed Operation Gain, police say the Franklin community was “quick” to come forward with information. The information led officers to the location of the vehicle involved in the incident and the offender being charged.

“I would like to thank the public for coming forward with information,” Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Taylor said.

“This information, along with an extensive CCTV canvas across the Franklin area, has resulted in the arrest of the woman today.”

The 31-year-old woman was charged with murder and is expected to appear in the Manukau District Court today.

“The investigation continues, and we encourage anyone that hasn’t been spoken to by Police yet and has information about this tragic incident to please come forward,” Taylor said.

He urged anyone with information to update police online or call 105.
