Bradley Walsh has said he wouldn’t dare shake up The Chase or he would face the consequences.

The 65-year-old has fronted the show since its inception in 2009, and was probed on his busy schedule during a recent interview.

He was asked on the BBC’s The One Show: “You’ve got The Chase coming up, you’ve got Beat The Chasers as well, anything different we can expect from these series?”

But Walsh said he has no plans to mess with a winning formula.

“I’m not allowed to do anything different, I think I’d get fired if I did anything different.

“You’ve got to stick to the rules, and stick to the format.”

However, he added: “You can have a laugh in between.”

Walsh admitted that he doesn’t mind being seen as “old and grumpy” as he gets older, saying age has given him the freedom to pick and choose what he works on.

“People say to me ‘you never stop working’, but if you enjoy the job you do, you will never do a day’s work in your life,” he said.

“It’s as simple as that. I just love what I do.”

The Chase will soon be arriving in New Zealand when Paul Henry hosts a series of shows – with the broadcast date yet to be announced.

The Chase is on TVNZ1 and TVNZ+ daily at 5pm.
