When "Outlander" debuts, there will be drama on the high seas.

Executive producer Matt B. Roberts discusses "The Doldrums"' crucial missing scene from the book in an interview with THR.

As Starz's acclaimed adaptation of Outlander set sail during Sunday's episode, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) were torn apart once more.

The dangers of life at sea were revealed to Jamie and Claire in "The Doldrums," just as they had previously believed.

After helping to eradicate the typhoid that nearly decimated its crew, another ship, plagued by disease and stuck at sea, snatched Claire away from Jamie.

Despite the fact that both ships were headed toward Jamaica, the episode finished with a shot of Claire being carried farther away from Jamie while scared and helpless.

The fact that the show is currently at sea indicates a departure from Voyager's original material.

Where does the story proceed from here, for those who haven't read the book, given that Claire has been stolen by this new ship?

Claire has been held hostage to provide treatment for the sailors in the upcoming episode, which takes place on board this disease ship, the HMS Porpoise.
