The 2023 CMA Awards nominees are led by Lainey Wilson. Information about the country music star's record-breaking

Before she became the face of country music, the "Yellowstone" actress spent years performing on the Nashville circuit.

With a record-breaking nine nominations for the 2023 Country Music Awards, singer-turned-TV star Lainey Wilson is the most nominated artist for the second consecutive year.

The native of Louisiana spent years touring Nashville until receiving her big break in 2021 with the number-one album Sayin' What I'm Thinkin'.

Fans who are not into country music may know Wilson from her recurring role on Yellowstone, where she has played Abby,

an aspiring musician, since the beginning of the fifth season of the television series.

Wilson is the first performer to have two nominations for Single of the Year in the same year in thirteen years.

After Miranda Lambert and Merle Haggard, who each had nine nominations in 1970 and 2010,

she is just the third performer to have the most in a single year. Currently holding the record with ten nominations from 2002 is Alan Jackson.
