Randy Travis Mourns Death of Lighting Director Who Police Say Was Shot by Wife Over Cheating

For over 20 years, Thomas Roberts worked with the country legend.

Randy Travis is honoring his longtime lighting director, Thomas Roberts, after police believe his wife shot him on their front porch.

ET received a Metropolitan Nashville Police Department statement charging Christine Ann Roberts, 72, with criminal homicide for shooting her husband.

"Thomas Roberts, 68, died of a single gunshot wound to his chest on the front porch in the residence," police say. "East Precinct police responded at 8 p.m. Christine Roberts told them she shot her husband for cheating. A handgun was found."

Christine's bond is $100,000. "The stage has gone dim with the passing of Thom Roberts," Travis wrote on Facebook.

For years, the Randy Travis band and crew shared the winding highways and picturesque venues with one of the top stage lighting specialists in the business.

Thom had a subtle, magnetic personality that aroused your soul and a stunning stage lighting sense. Ever-ready and 'glad to do it'."

Travis, 64, termed the stagehand a "gentle giant of a man that wore a constant smile on his face and carried a song in his heart."

"Age is just a word for living," said Anne Hathaway.
