The Ploopy A+ is the next version of the popular open-source Adept trackball. It adds more buttons, two scroll knobs, and a detachable wrist rest.

  • Eight programmable buttons: Two more than the original Adept, and two double as knobs for smooth, reprogrammable scrolling.
  • Ball gestures: Hold a button and flick the ball in one of eight directions to copy, paste, switch desktops, or adjust media playback.
  • Detachable wrist rest: Attach it for support, remove it for a smaller footprint, or screw it in for a permanent setup.
  • On-device control layer: Press the right knob to switch hands, change scrolling modes, adjust DPI, or set LED brightness, all without extra software.
  • Proven sensor and switches: The PMW-3360 sensor and Omron D2LS-21 switches carry over, so tracking accuracy and button feel stay the same.

Preorders for the $99 CAD kit open Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 10am ET, and everything about the A+ remains fully open-source.
