Florencia Romeo, her sister, and her girlfriend spent the night in a tent outside Argentina's biggest stadium on May 31.
They wanted to be at the front of the line because they had heard rumors that Taylor Swift might visit Buenos Aires.
Ms. Swift was on her way, though it would take some time. The rumors were accurate. It would be more than five months until her concert.
Nevertheless, the tent remained, inhabited by a revolving cast of thirty devoted Swifties who collaborated for 163 days
to secure their places in line for an opportunity to approach their idol as closely as possible when she took the stage on Thursday during the first stop of her Eras Tour outside of North America.
"This is something we have been waiting for for a long time,"
On Thursday, Ms. Swift's Eras Tour officially went global as she kicked off a new leg of performances that would see her visit 25 cities in 10 months throughout South America, Asia, Australia, and Europe.
Since March, the North American stretch of the tour has become an economic marvel and a cultural force, cementing Ms. Swift’s status as one of the most influential, and beloved, people on the continent.
