A van was left heavily damaged after a crash with a bus at a busy Auckland intersection this morning.

A rail replacement bus collided with a van just before 9am this morning at the intersection of Great South Road and Ellerslie-Panmure Highway in Penrose.

Auckland Transport (AT) said it is “looking into the incident”.

“At 8.55am a bus operation on a rail replacement bus between Britomart station and Onehunga station collided with a van in Ellerslie on Great South Road,” an AT spokesperson told 1News.

Police said the van rolled at the intersection, with footage of the van post crash showing large dents on the side doors and missing windows.

The bus involved is missing a bumper and has a cracked windscreen.

The crash led to traffic delays this morning.
