An 18-year-old dirt bike rider has been charged and has had his bike impounded after “reckless behaviour” reports led police to search an Auckland property.

Counties Manukau East Senior Sergeant Anson Lin said Beachlands residents reported incidents throughout January, including the rider allegedly riding on the wrong side of the road, speeding, and “performing other dangerous manoeuvres”.

“This sort of behaviour needlessly puts other road users in danger, as well as those engaging in the behaviour,” Lin said.

Police identified a person of interest and searched a Beachlands address last week.

“An 18-year-old male has been charged with dangerous driving and has had the dirt bike involved impounded,” Lin said.
