Police are asking for the public’s help to identify vehicles and potential witnesses who may hold key information about the murder of 20-year-old Tyreece Te Pairi in central Hamilton last month.

Emergency services were called to Alexandra St shortly after midnight on July 20 to reports of an altercation between two groups.

Te Pairi was critically injured and taken to hospital but died a short time later. He was celebrating his upcoming 21st birthday.

An 18-year-old had been arrested in relation to the death, with all facts in relation to the charges and ongoing investigation suppressed.

Detective Senior Sergeant Kristine Clarke said police were following “strong lines of inquiry” and thanked the public for their help thus far.

“We are now working to gather information around a few specific points, which we’re hoping the public can also help with.”

Police would like to hear from anyone who attended a hip-hop event at Cloud 9 Bar on Hood St on the evening of July 19 and had photos or video recorded at the event.

Clarke said police would also like to speak to anyone who saw a 2024 blue Mitsubishi Outlander, a 2005 grey Nissan Teana and a 2004 gold Toyota Prius in the Hamilton CBD area between 10pm on July 19 and 12.30am on July 20.

A 2005 grey Nissan Teana.

“It is believed the vehicles travelled to the Cloud 9 Bar event and the occupants may have information that could greatly help our investigation.”

Anyone with relevant information should contact police on 105.
