There will be a heightened police presence in South Auckland this weekend as officers monitor an event hosted by the Tribesmen Outlaw Motorcycle Club.

Inspector Rakana Cook said there will be police teams working to “target and disrupt unlawful gang-related activity”.

“We will be monitoring the event in Auckland this weekend and there will be an increased police presence in the Counties Manukau area,” Cook said.

“Police will be actively ensuring this event is carried out in a safe manner for all involved, including the wider community.”

Enforcement action will be taken where appropriate for any unsafe or dangerous behaviour, he said.

“We continue to encourage the community to report any suspicious or illegal activity that may be taking place, we take these reports seriously and in confidence.”

Two weeks ago, five people were arrested and six motorcycles impounded after a group of Tribesmen gang members allegedly sped through South Auckland and refused to stop for police.

Anyone concerned about their safety or witnesses illegal behaviour as it is happening has been asked to call police immediately on 111.

To report or send in any footage of the group causing concern, members of the public have been advised to file a report online or call police on 105.
