Police said investigations are underway following reports of a “hate motivated assault” in Central Auckland earlier this month.

“At about 2.50pm on September 2, a woman was approached by an unknown female on the corner of Queen Street and Scotia Place,” Auckland City Central response manager Senior Sergeant Dave Plunkett said in a statement.

“The offender has assaulted the victim, before yelling verbal threats and took a number of items before leaving on foot.”

Plunkett said police have “no tolerance for this type of crime or intimidation in our communities”.

Support is being provided to the victim, Plunkett said.

“Anyone who may have seen this incident, or has any information, is urged to contact police.”
