Police are in attendance at a McDonald’s on Stoddard Road after a serious assault in Auckland’s Mt Roskill this evening.

One person was transported to hospital with “serious injuries”, a police spokesperson said. Another has been taken into custody.

Police were called to the scene shortly before 8pm after receiving reports of a “grievous bodily assault”.

Officers could be seen inside the restaurant, as well as blood and overturned tables.

“There will be a Police presence in the area and cordons will be in place while Police investigate the incident,” the spokesperson said.

“Police wish to reassure the public that there is not thought to be any ongoing threat to public safety, this appears to be an isolated incident between two parties known to each other.”

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “The restaurant management are assisting police with their investigation and staff are being supported.”
