A person is in custody, and a homicide investigation has been launched after police found a man with stab wounds at a property in Northland.
Police were called to a property on Mangakahia Road, about 5km south of Kaikohe, at 9.10am today.
“Upon arrival, they located a male with apparent stab wounds who, despite medical attention, died at the scene,” Detective Inspector Al Symonds said.
A person of interest was taken into custody.
Police are still gathering evidence at the scene and speaking to several people gathered at the property.
“Police would ask anyone who saw what happened, who has not yet spoken to Police, to please get in touch.”
It was the second homicide investigation launched by police this morning after a man was found dead in Hamilton at around 4.30am
