A person has died following a crash in the Bay of Plenty this afternoon.
Police say they were called to a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 5 just north of Mamaku around 3.50pm.
The sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson told 1News it was alerted to the crash at 3.51pm.
An ambulance, one rapid response unit and one helicopter responded.
SH5 is expected to remain closed “for some time” while the serious crash unit carries out a scene examination.
