One person was taken to hospital in a serious condition following an apartment fire in Hamilton overnight.
Emergency services were called to the Whitiora property at around 11.20pm.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand said two people were involved. One of them needed to be helped from the building while the other was accounted for.
Four fire trucks, three support units, and a fire investigator were called to the scene.
Hato Hone St John said one person was taken to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.
“Inquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances,” police said.
