Prince William won’t be shedding a tear over Harry and Meghan missing Christmas at Sandringham, according to a royal expert who claims that while the Prince of Wales loves his brother, his mind is closed to a reconciliation.

BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Sun “I think William has closed his mind to the prospect of a reconciliation with Harry, and I can’t see a time when Meghan would be welcomed back into the bosom of the family – or a time when she would ever want to be welcomed back.

“Little Archie and Lilibet should be running around with their many cousins, pulling crackers, opening presents and understanding their place in the family, connecting with their relatives even though their lives are thousands of miles away. But that’s not going to happen.

“I don’t think William will be shedding a tear over this. Deep down, I’m sure he still loves Harry, but I don’t think he can see a way out of the rift that has opened between them.”

Bond added: “I doubt that William thinks about them for more than a fleeting moment – and then he probably tries to blank out those thoughts.”

That being said, King Charles may make time to see Harry over the festive season, perhaps in Scotland over the New Year when the family’s official celebrations are over.

The British royals will spend Christmas morning attending a church service at St. Mary Magdalene before returning to Sandringham House for their traditional Christmas lunch.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex last attended the event in 2018 before the pandemic placed the UK into lockdown.

They then resigned as senior working members of the monarchy in 2020, relocating to California in the US, where they live with their children Archie, four, and Lilibet, two.

Prince Harry attended King Charles’ coronation in May solo, with Meghan remaining at home with the couple’s children.

Since their resignation, Harry and Meghan have given a number of media interviews about their time in the royal family, including a sit down interview with Oprah Winfrey and in their Netflix special Harry and Meghan.

In January 2023 Harry released his memoir Spare, in which he chronicled his falling out with his brother Prince William.

It has since been reported Meghan is working on her own book and career comeback, having signed with talent agency WME.

The pair now run their ventures through their private organisation, Archewell.
