A building in Auckland’s Takanini has been damaged in a large fire in the early hours of this morning.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson told 1News crews from seven fire trucks found a blaze in the rear of the building on Great South Road shortly before 1am.

That part of the building was a storage area, with the front housing a hospice charity shop.

Fire crews worked quickly to contain and extinguish the fire.

One truck remained on site monitoring for hot spots, with an investigator also on the scene.

There were no reported injuries.
