All northbound lanes are now open in Auckland’s Waterview Tunnel after an over height vehicle strike earlier closed two of them this afternoon.

One lane had remained open as crews inspected the damage to the tunnel and carried out emergency roadworks.

Residual northbound delays should ease, an NZTA spokesperson said.

It is the second incident which has caused delays on State Highway 20 today after a vehicle flipped near the Onehunga off-ramp this morning.

Police said that the car flipped and came to a stop in the middle of the motorway heading west towards Queenstown Rd.

“Thankfully, the driver does not appear to have suffered any serious injuries,” a spokesperson said.
