Police are seeking further information on individuals who may have information about rainbow-coloured Pride flags that were cut down in Queenstown yesterday.

Queenstown Sergeant Steve Watt said the theft occurred “sometime in the last week” but was reported to police yesterday, the day Winter Pride began.

Police have asked to speak to the four individuals, or anyone who recognised them, “as we believe they may be able to assist our inquiries”.

“At this time, we are unaware of the motivation behind this theft, and fully support this great festival that means so much to our city.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 105, quoting file number 240822/6540.

A Givealittle page has been launched to raise funds to replace the flags — which were estimated to cost $400 each to produce.
