The patch and motorcycle belonging to the president of the Head Hunters West chapter in Auckland have been seized following a search this morning.
It came after five patched members of the gang were seen on CCTV riding their motorbikes in Wellsford, north of Auckland, early yesterday morning.
Police executed a search warrant on the View Rd, Henderson pad this morning in response.
Assistant Commissioner Paul Basham said two of the motorcyclists have been identified.
One of them, aged 52, was arrested and had his patch seized.
Police also seized the patch and motorbike of the 61-year-old president.
They will be charged with offending under the Gangs Act 2024, which came into force yesterday, relating to the display of gang insignia.
Police are working to identify the other three riders.
A motorcycle belonging to another gang member was also seized due to the owner having outstanding fines.
“This warrant should serve as notice to gang members that Police are actively enforcing the new legislation, and we will be undertaking follow-up enquiries to identify those responsible for breaches, even if action is unable to be taken immediately at the time of offending.”
Police said that yesterday, after the news laws came into force, six people had been arrested and five summonsed to appear in court for alleged offending related to displaying gang insignia in public.
