Four people suffered minor to moderate injuries following a house fire in Dunedin’s Saint Clair overnight.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand shift manager Darrel Ball said they received a report of a house fire shortly before 3am.
On arrival, crews found the house was ablaze and had sustained extensive damage.
At its peak, there were eight fire trucks in attendance with around 26 firefighters.
St John said it sent one ambulance and one rapid response unit.
“Our crews assessed and treated four patients, two in a minor condition at the scene and one in a minor condition and one in a moderate condition who were transported to Dunedin Hospital,” they said.
The incident remained ongoing with crews still at the scene to dampen hot spots.
A fire investigator was expected to arrive later this morning to determine the cause of the blaze.
