Four people have been arrested after an alleged aggravated robbery in Auckland this morning led to armed traffic stops being conducted on two stolen vehicles on Auckland’s North Shore and in the Waikato region.

Police said a group of men arrived at a Kerrykeel Dr property at around 5am on Thursday reportedly armed with weapons including a firearm.

The group allegedly stole property and a vehicle from the address, Detective Inspector Karen Bright said.

The police Eagle helicopter located the stolen vehicle heading north on State Highway 20.

“Eagle observed this vehicle travelling in tandem with a second vehicle, which was also stolen,” Bright said.

“Units moved in and signalled both vehicles to stop near Te Atatū, in which both failed to stop.”

The first vehicle, taken from the Flat Bush address, was tracked to Glenfield Rd where Auckland Armed Offenders Squad officers brought it to a stop and arrested a 20-year-old man without incident.

The second vehicle headed south into Waikato, pursued by police units.

It later crashed into roadside barriers on Tirau Rd, where the Waikato Armed Offenders Squad also carried out an armed traffic stop.

Three male occupants, a 17-year-old and two 18-year-olds, were arrested at the scene without further issue.

Police seized both vehicles with detailed examinations to be carried out. No occupants at the Flat Bush address or motorists were injured over the course of the incident.

“Counties Manukau CIB are continuing to investigate the entire circumstances of what unfolded at the Flat Bush address this morning,” Bright said.
