Massey High School says it is one of five schools hit by vandals over the past three nights in the West Auckland area.
In a post to its social media, Massey High School said it was hit by “significant, mindless vandalism” over the past two nights, and it wasn’t the only one.
“All schools have suffered similar damage, large numbers of broken windows at the front of the school (caused by blunt objects) and damage to school vehicles,” the post said.
In a statement to 1News, Waitematā West area prevention manager Kelly Farrant said police were investigating after incidents occurred at five high schools within the last three days.
“A small group of offenders have entered the grounds of each school and smashed in the windows of several buildings and vehicles,” she said.
“We are recommending that schools in the area take suitable security precautions.”
Farrant said police were following “lines of inquiry to identify the offenders believed responsible”.
Massey High School said it was operating “as normal” today, although the school reception would be closed due to broken windows.
