Christina Applegate was reduced to tears after receiving a standing ovation at her surprise appearance at today’s Emmy Awards.

The American actor is receiving treatment for multiple sclerosis and surprised guests when she took to the stage with a cane to present the first award of the night for best supporting actress in a comedy series.

This was her first awards ceremony since February, 2023.

The Dead To Me star was also a nominee at the awards for lead actress in a comedy series.

As reported by People, on receiving the ovation, Applegate joked “Oh my God, you’re totally shaming me with disability by standing up. It’s fine… Body not by Ozempic!”

She added, “We don’t have to applaud every time I do something.”

The 52-year-old was diagnosed with MS in August 2021 and now uses a cane to get around.

MS is a chronic autoimmune disease of the central nervous system and can impact vision, memory, balance and mobility.

In an interview with Vanity Fair last year, Applegate said she may never act in front of a camera again as a result of her diagnosis.
