Police have released a CCTV image of a 77-year-old Porirua man who has been missing since Sunday, hoping it will help lead to his whereabouts.

Graham Russell Smith was reported missing at about 6.30pm on Sunday after he went for a walk on Doctor Track on the Colonial Knob walkway in Porirua, police said.

Today, police released a CCTV image of Smith captured earlier on Sunday afternoon. The image shows him wearing the same clothing he was in when he went missing.

Police said he was also wearing a dark blue puffer jacket.

“Police are hoping a new CCTV image may help jog the public’s memory.”

Police said its search and rescue team, LandSAR volunteers — including teams from Horowhenua and Manawatū — and the Amateur Emergency Radio Communication Team were helping search for Smith.

“The Police National Dive Squad began searching the reservoirs in the reserve yesterday and are continuing their search today,” a spokesperson said.

Overnight, Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) assisted police using a drone with thermal capability.

“We are continuing to ask anyone who may have seen Graham to get in touch with us, and asking residents in nearby suburbs to check their properties,” police said.
